SnareSkirt®
A SOUND Solution®
For as long as drums have been played in clubs, studios, concert halls, churches, schools, and stages everywhere, sound engineers have countered the problem of excessive drum volume by using a baffle or plexiglass/drum shield. While these options can be effective, they often sacrifice overall sound quality, subtle musical nuance, onstage communication, and other considerations. In reality, the snare drum is the driving factor because of certain undesirable sounds and overtones that originate from the bottom of the snare drum.
The patented (U.S. Patent No. 11,004,431) SnareSkirt® is the solution! It provides a non-invasive, effective, and targeted result!
Every drummer has been asked at some point to muffle their snare drum or play quieter, especially on smaller stages or in very reflective rooms. The primary goals of the SnareSkirt® are:
1) To minimize the bleed of undesirable frequencies into stage microphones, in turn, allowing higher gain levels and more precise fine tuning of vocals and other instruments in the overall mix.
2) To maximize listening enjoyment, especially for those on the stage and those closest to the stage.
SnareSkirt® discretely hangs from the lower tension rods of your snare drum, and will not damage the rods or drum shell. It is easily installed in seconds, portable and very low profile, takes up no floor space, and requires no modification of your drum(s). It can be directionally attached where noise reduction is needed most, usually hanging in the space between the kick drum and hi-hat stand. Drummer feedback has been positive, noting that they don’t have to change the way they play, does not change or dampen the batter or resonant heads in any way, and it has negligible effect on the way they hear their instrument. Additionally, SnareSkirt® can provide the same benefits for timbales and other auxiliary percussion instruments.
Each SnareSkirt® is individually made in Spring Hill, TN. The standard silhouette is black but the fabric color can be changed and customized to fit your personality or to match your kit.
